Lately I've been getting acquainted with some of the many nature trails in my area. While I frequently meet like-minded nature enthusiasts on the trails, I am struck by those who hike or run the trails with earpods in their ears canceling the sounds of nature around them and who pass right by the beauty surrounding them without a glance. I like to look intentionally at the intricate details that God has put into His creation. It reminds me that He cares about the intricate details of my life as well. The two photos in this post were taken within a few minutes of each other on the same trail as I observed the spiral patterns replicated in the fiddlehead ferns and the snail's shell. #spiral #patternsinnature #patterns #spiralsinnature #fiddleheads #fiddleheadferns #snail #snailshell #nature #naturelover #naturephotography #beautyinnature #beautyofcreation #naturehike #payattentiontothedetails
You never know what interesting hiding places wildlife will find! I noticed this little skink peeking out of an antique wagon wheel hub the other day. #skink #skinksofinstagram #reptiles #reptilesofinstagram #antiques #wagonwheelhub #rust #peelingpaint #textures #wildlifephotography #textures_of_decay
I've seen a message on a T-shirt that describes my current experience: "Just a Kentucky girl living in a North Carolina world." For a number of years I lived right in the heart of Kentucky horse country. I daily passed horse farms on my commute to and from work. Spring was my favorite time as I enjoyed seeing the new foals frolicking in the fields. So the other day while driving a country road in North Carolina, I found myself pulling over to take some pictures when I spotted these horses that reminded me so much of my old Kentucky home. #horses #horsesofinstagram #horsesofnorthcarolina #horsephotography #beautyofhorses #animals #stable #kentuckygirllivinginanorthcarolinaworld
Hiking a nature trail at an area park, I observed this Tufted Titmouse sticking its head in a tree hole. I don't know if it has a nest inside or if it was just checking out the possibilities. #birds #birdsofinstagram #birdsofnorthcarolina #birdwatching #birdphotography #birdwatching_wildlife #wildlifephotography #tuftedtitmouse #naturehike #nature #naturelover #naturephotography #tanglewoodpark
Last week an American Elm tree in the yard was covered with seed pods. The squirrels and birds went through all kinds of contortions to feast on what appeared to be a favorite treat. At one point, the squirrels were dangling by their tails and swinging out to reach seed pods further away. It was fun to watch their determination. #squirrel #squirrelsofinstagram #squirrelsofnorthcarolina #wildlifephotography #americanelm #animals #spring #seedpod #nature #naturelover #naturephotography

Spring is such a beautiful time of year as new leaves burst forth on the trees and we see evidence of new life all around us. It is a reminder of the wonderful spiritual truth that the Apostle Paul proclaimed in 2 Corinthians: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV). #spring #beautyofspring #beautyinnature #beautyofcreation #newleaves #newlife #newlifeinchrist #newcreation #nature #naturesbeauty #naturephotography
I'm almost positive that I heard this European Starling hanging out in a McDonald's parking lot say, "I'll have fries with that!"
